North Haven Schools, Adelaide
School Project - Centenary of Federation Banners
Artist Project - Threads drawn from the past, toward a digital
future... artist book on the Internet and boxed set of postcards
and family artifacts |
|
|
|
The
North Haven Artist in School project brought together buddy classes
Year 6 and Year 2 students and teachers, Sally and Rosemary. The
project involved the creation of two banners to celebrate Centenary
of Federation. The first featured drawings of those involved in
planning the Australian constitution, as well as an historical overview
(in visual form) of Australian inventions, culture, sport, food
and indigenous settlement. The second banner was a more contemporary
look at life in Australia, and features portrait drawings of school
staff by the Year 2 students and explores current life in Australia.
My
project, Threads drawn from the past, toward a digital future...
was to investigate 100 years of my family history. From my research
I plan to create a website, using the non-linear nature of Internet
browsing to explore the non-chronological nature of memory. From
the digital files created for the Internet I will in the future
make a box of family memorabilia - postcards with stories, family
'treasures', and miscellaneous oddities.

Henley High School, Adelaide
School Project - Photopolymer printmaking with Year 11 and design
projects with Year 10
Artist Project - Contingent Ambiguity folio work in progress
|
|
|
|
|
The
Year 11 students explored photopolymer printmaking and used portraiture
as a starting point for their images. Year 10 students formed groups
and undertook a business project, each group deciding what they
would market. The projects varied from decorative notepads, tee
shirt designs, embossed cards and printed and handcoloured cards
printed using photopolymer plates.
During
my time with the school I worked on images for my Contingent
Ambiguity folio, for which I used an image of myself as a starting
point for the polymergravure printed images. The Contingent Ambiguity
prints were shown at Henley Beach High School and after at the Sue
Tweddell Gallery which is part of Adelaide Central Gallery, in late
2000.

1999
Loreto College, Adelaide
School Project - Garden Minuet, photopolymer printmaking
and limited edition book production with Year 11 students
Artist Project - TheatreGarden, photopolymer print series
|
|
|
|
The
students worked very hard to produce drawings of the heritage garden
at Loreto College and transform the drawings into relief photopolymer
prints. They produced an edition of 40 prints which were incorporated
into a beautiful book, with drawings and text on translucent interleaves.
Each student received a copy from the edition, a book which will
be a wonderful reminder of an ambitious, but very successful project.
My TheatreGarden series of prints is still at the work in
progress stage.
